This policy covers the Vote Independent Movement (VIM) website, a project of Bengs for South Dakota, which collects and holds the information described here. It describes what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
When you take the Independent Pledge
We collect your first name, last name, email and state, and your agreement to the pledge. We use them to record and count pledges accurately, including removing duplicate submissions.
Choices you make on the form
- Your name, publicly. The pledge form asks whether we may include your name publicly as someone who has taken the Independent Pledge. We publish your name only if you answer Yes. That permission covers your name only, not your city, photo or any quote. You can ask us to remove it anytime.
- Email updates. We email you about VIM only if you check the box asking for updates. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe.
- Share links. If you arrive through a link someone shared, we note the short code in that link so we can credit them for the pledge.
When you sign up to volunteer
The volunteer form is separate from the pledge. We collect your name, email, city and state, how you'd like to participate, and anything you choose to tell us. We use it only to reach you about participating. Signing up doesn't give us permission to feature you publicly, and you can ask us to stop contacting you at any time.
Site analytics and advertising
This site uses Google Tag Manager to measure visits and actions, such as how many people start and finish the pledge, and to measure our advertising. These tools may use cookies. What taking the pledge doesn't do
- It does not change your voter registration or your party.
- It does not make your name public. Public display is always your choice.
Where your information is stored
